How to Keep Your Clients Coming Back!

Wow! My mind is blown! I just read an article in Salon Today magazine (online) that 7 out of 10 of your new clients are NOT coming back to you! If your business were a patient, it would be on life support! At that rate, do you realize how hard you have to work and how long it would take you to build a steady clientele? Or how much time and money you would need to spend on marketing to stay busy? Your business is hemorrhaging, literally bleeding to death!

I’ve always said that you have two (2) choices.

1) You can do everyone in your town – once. And that will keep you busy.

OR

2) You can learn how to keep a relatively small number of clients coming back to see you on a regular basis! I’ve always chosen #2!

Here are a couple of very simple (but often overlooked) things that you can do to increase your odds of retaining your new clients.

Smile – it’s absolutely FREE! Let your guests (new and existing) know that you’re excited to see them!
Take time to find out who they are and what they want – better known as a ‘Consultation’. Your first interaction sets the tone for your entire relationship! Will it be over before it starts or will you still be ‘her Stylist’ 3 or 4 years from now? That small investment of time and focused listening will pay dividends!
Create what I call “A Hair Plan”. Get her excited about her options and give her something to look forward to on her next visit!
